Who is eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program?
The main eligibility criterion for FSWP is a minimum of 67 points under the following six selection factors.
The maximum points for each factor are:
Language skills (28 points)
Education (25 points)
Work experience (15 points)
Age (12 points)
Job offer in Canada (10 points)
Adaptability (10 points)
In addition to this basic eligibility, the factors also include
Work experience: At least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time paid skilled work experience in NOC code 0, A, B within the last ten years
Language proficiency: minimum language ability of CLB 7 in one of the approved IELTS or CELPIP language tests
Education: Completed studies equivalent to a Canadian secondary or post-secondary school evaluated and certified by an approved Educational Credentials Assessment (ECA) report.
Proof of funds: sufficient funds for you (and your family) to settle in Canada, unless you have a valid offer of arranged employment in Canada or are currently working or authorized to work in Canada.
Other factors: Your eligibility in Canada and the intention to reside outside the province of Quebec once approved.
Where can I get my educational credentials evaluated?
To ensure its validity and equivalence with the Canadian education system, an educational credential assessment (ECA) is required for all foreign educational credentials, including a degree, diploma or certificate.
The IRCC has a list of organizations designated for ECA, and processing time and cost vary for each.
